The 88-claim, 1,575-ha Battleship property is situated approximately 350km north of Yukon’s capital city of Whitehorse. Current access to the property is by helicopter. From the western edge of the property it is just 2km to the Haggart Creek Road that provides access to Victoria Gold Corp.’s producing Eagle Gold Mine. The property is only 4.2km from the Eagle open pit where Victoria has outlined proven and probable reserves of 217.4Mt grading 0.63gpt Au for a total of 4.397M ounces of gold [1] . Banyan Gold Corp. has outlined an inferred resource of 52.5Mt grading 0.535gpt [2] at its Aurmac project located just 10km south of Battleship.
The exploration target at Battleship is a Reduced Intrusion Related Gold System deposit (“reduced IRGS-type”) [3] . Reduced IRGS-type deposits are large, low-grade systems that are more amenable to detailed, widespread geochemical surveys rather than focused prospecting and sampling of easily identifiable quartz veins. Detailed geochemical surveys have proven to be effective for exploring this type of deposit model in the immediate McQueston area and adjacent Dawson Range area.
